Due to the Covid-19 restrictions Remembrance Sunday will look different this year. In order to protect the community of Porthleven the Town Council, Porthleven Town Band and the Methodist Chapel are honouring Remembrance Sunday in the following ways:
Act of Remembrance
We are asking the community to please stand in your doorway or at the end of your driveway in an act of remembrance at 11am on Sunday 8th November and hold a 2minute silence. Members of Porthleven Town Band will be placed throughout Porthleven and play the Last Post, please start your 2minute silence after this, and will mark the end of the 2minute silence by playing Reveille.
The Town Council will be represented by the Deputy Mayor, Mike Toy, who will lay wreaths at the War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday at 11am on behalf of the community and Town Council. Lt. Cmdr. Andrew Bell RNR Retired will accompany the Deputy Mayor and read the Roll of Honour, which we hope to record and put on Facebook
Residents who wish to lay private wreaths separately at the War Memorial between Remembrance Sunday and Wednesday 11th November are welcome, please ensure that social distancing / covid-19 guidance is maintained.
The Methodist Chapel will be holding a virtual Remembrance Service at 11am on Remembrance Sunday which will be available live at http://remembrance.livestreaming.co.uk/?fbclid=IwAR2Y8-IFH4rFd_6UeKsK_kquVZziVORAOBThDgo0aXWkyP8BPoQx-hdL_oI
